The Starhead collection is a small portion of the Fox Archive’s larger photograph collection. It consists of portraits and candid images of employees (i.e., actors, actresses, writers, directors, production executives, etc.) who were contracted by Fox when the star system was in place. The Starhead photographs were used by the studio to publicize its employees and promote their off-screen image.
For identification, each employee was assigned a unique identification number; these numbers were written in black on each photographic negative and, when printed, they appear white on the prints. Anne Baxter’s number is F534, Jeanne Crain’s number is F695 and June Haver’s number is F643. The Thanksgiving-themed photographs below are from each of their Starhead files.

The Fox Archives is mandated to collect, catalog, preserve and make accessible the following assets of the 20th Century Fox studios: props, set decoration, photographs, art department and publicity materials from our film and television productions, and from the 20th Century Fox studio itself. We work primarily with internal Fox groups but also from time to time with outside organizations such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry.
