21st Century Fox CEO James Murdoch and “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” director Matthew Vaughn co-hosted a private screening last night in London for the upcoming action-adventure film. Students participating in the Ghetto Film School (GFS) 2017 London Summer Workshop and luminaries from the U.K.’s creative industry were among those who attended the screening of the second installment of 20th Century Fox Film’s “Kingsman” franchise, a week ahead of the world premiere.
In his remarks, James lauded the remarkable vision that Matthew, a longtime friend, has brought to the “Kingsman” films. The first installment, “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” was a box-office hit when it was released in 2014. It presented audiences with another example of Matthew’s recognizable, endearing and ambitious approach to filmmaking. The movie, which combines a British brand of style and cool with adrenaline-fueled action sequences, was celebrated by James for its “adventurous spirit” and “talent” showcasing the vibrancy of the U.K.’s creative industry.
Guests for the screening included the GFS 2017 London Summer Workshop students; Joe Hall, founder of GFS; Elisabeth Murdoch and Keith Tyson; Jeremy Darroch, CEO of Sky; actor Ashley Walters and his wife, actress Danielle Walters; musician Gary Barlow; Adam Boulton, Editor, Sky News, and his wife, Anji Hunter; TV presenter and journalist Claudia Winkleman and her husband, Kris Thykier, producer, Archery Pictures; actor Dexter Fletcher; Natalie Pinkham, Presenter, Sky Sports; Sarah-Jane Mee, Presenter, Sky News; TV presenter Lorraine Kelly; and producer Hilary Bevan Jones.

The company is also the founding sponsor of GFS Los Angeles, which opened its doors in June 2014 to provide an education center dedicated to giving young people from historically under-served areas the chance to realize their dreams of becoming filmmakers.
Earlier this year, GFS students traveled to London to screen their films at BAFTA for leading figures from London’s film industry. The partnership marked the first time GFS shared its curriculum with another organization to develop young filmmakers outside of the U.S., and the first time that the Bronx and LA fellows collaborated on their thesis projects abroad. The 2017 London Summer Workshop is a six-week introductory immersion in cinematic storytelling and production training for young London-based artists aged 14-18.
“Kingsman: The Golden Circle” hits U.K. theaters on Wednesday, Sept. 20. The film hits U.S. theaters on Friday, Sept. 22.
