National Geographic Channel hosted a very special screening of “Before the Flood“from Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Fisher Stevens and Academy Award-winning actor, and environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and actor Mark Ruffalo were among those attending the screening and party co-hosted by Courteney Monroe, Chief Executive Officer of National Geographic Global Networks, at the United Nations on Thursday night.
“Before the Flood” presents a riveting account of the dramatic changes now occurring around the world due to climate change. The documentary follows Leonardo DiCaprio as he travels to five continents, meeting with with an array of scientists and leaders, including President Barack Obama; Pope Francis; and Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX and CEO of Tesla Motors. A United Nations Messenger for Peace, Leonardo hopes his new documentary will raise awareness about the need to act on climate change.
Courteney made introductory remarks to the crowd of U.N. dignitaries, special guests and Nat Geo executives, including President and CEO of National Geographic Society Gary Knell, and Chief Executive Officer of National Geographic Partners Declan Moore.
“Before the Flood” will premiere Sunday, Oct. 30, on the National Geographic Channel.
