On Tuesday, July 17, FOX Sports and the 21CF Public Affairs team hosted a pregame reception and watch party for the 89th MLB All-Star Game, which was played at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.
Before the game, legislators and regulators from the U.S. Senate, House of Representatives and Federal Communications Commission took part in a behind-the-scenes tour of the production compound, pregame set and broadcast booth. Led by Brad Zager, executive vice president of production and operations for FOX Sports, the congressional and agency leaders were educated on the technology, investment and talent required to produce and broadcast high-quality sports content.
Joe Buck, John Smoltz, Kevin Burkhardt, Alex Rodriguez, Frank Thomas, David Ortiz and Nick Swisher, along with game producer Pete Macheska and director Matt Gangl were on hand to greet the congressional and FCC leaders.
At the party, guests posed for photos with Cleatus and were invited to check out several on-site technology demos, including a live feed of the stadium Skycam and FOX Sports’ new FIFA World Cup™ Highlight Machine.
More than 350 people attended the celebration just blocks from the stadium and were joined by a bipartisan group of lawmakers, including Sens. Chris Coons (D-DE), Doug Jones (D-AL), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR), and Congressmen Joe Barton (R-TX) and Ron Estes (R-KS). Executives and talent from across 21CF, FOX Sports, FOX News, Fox Networks Group, WTTG FOX 5 DC and National Geographic joined in the celebration.
