Rarely does the Fox Archives receive hand-drawn original art concepts from today’s feature films. The majority of concept art and construction, design, and storyboard materials are now created digitally and delivered via a link, hard drive or server. We seldomly have the opportunity to unroll full-size canvas banners and hand-painted watercolor concepts, filling the workroom with the smells of an artist’s studio. “The Greatest Showman,” in addition to being a musical phenomenon, is a visual wonder incorporating both hand-drawn and digital art seamlessly – and we have hand-drawn illustrations, digital sketches and more from the movie to share.

The Fox Archives is mandated to collect, catalog, preserve and make accessible the following assets of the 20th Century Fox studios: props, set decoration, photographs, art department and publicity materials from our film and television productions, and from the 20th Century Fox studio itself. We work primarily with internal Fox groups but also from time to time with outside organizations such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry.
