Fox Noir, a 21CF Colleague Network & Resource Group (CNRG), gathered at the Liaison Restaurant in Hollywood for a Joint Studio Mixer in honor of Juneteenth, the holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States at the end of the Civil War.
The June 19 event brought together approximately 65 Fox Noir colleagues along with members of peer employee groups from Sony, Netflix, Viacom, Disney, Warner Bros., Paramount, NBC Universal and HBO.
The Juneteenth Joint Studio Mixer marked the anniversary of June 19, 1865, with presentations by Dr. Francille Rusan Wilson and Dr. Toni-Mokjaetji Humber about the history of the holiday and its lasting cultural importance.
Wilson is Associate Professor of American Studies and Ethnicity, and History at the University of Southern California, as well as the National Director of the Association of Black Women Historians. Humber is Professor Emeritus from the Ethnic and Women’s Studies Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Her research focuses on African and African American history and culture, as well as the African Diaspora in Mexico.
Fox Noir, which is an employee-led CNRG, promotes an inclusive environment for Black colleagues seeking career development, professional mentorship and opportunities to serve within the company’s local communities.
