Twentieth Century Fox recently sponsored a weeklong media camp for creative-media students at The Manchester College in Manchester, England. Participating students were given a brief of 20th Century Fox’s upcoming release “Love, Simon” (in U.S. theaters on March 16) and asked to create a digital campaign for the film.
“This has been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had as a tutor. I’ve seen students who were too shy to answer questions in class grow in confidence over the course of a week, to the point where they could pitch their ideas to 20th Century Fox professionals,” said Katy Rushton, media tutor at The Manchester College. “They learned so many new skills and gained unique knowledge they can apply to their course. They have also developed employability skills that will help with work experience.”
The camp was organized by The Ideas Foundation, an education project that teaches young people ages 13-19 about the creative industries. During the week, colleagues from 20th Century Fox ran workshops for the students, who pitched their ideas to Cameron Sanders, Managing Director of U.K. Theatrical for 20th Century Fox, in addition to members of the marketing team.
All participating students will be invited to a special pre-screening of “Love, Simon” next month, before the official U.K. release date in April.
