FX’s new show “FEUD: Bette and Joan,” premiering Sunday, March 5, will tell the story of the rivalry between Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange) and Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon). In light of the show, we thought it would be fascinating to look back at some photography from the set of “Hush…Hush, Sweet Charlotte,” which was distributed by 20th Century Fox Film in 1964. Bette starred as Charlotte Hollis and Joan was originally cast as her sister, Miriam. However, shortly after the start of filming, Joan’s role was eventually recast with Olivia de Havilland.

Here are some photos featuring both Bette and Joan on the set of “Hush…Hush, Sweet Charlotte,” along with the press release explaining the replacement of Joan with Olivia.

The Fox Archives is mandated to collect, catalog, preserve and make accessible the following assets of the 20th Century Fox studios: props, set decoration, photographs, art department and publicity materials from our film and television productions, and from the 20th Century Fox studio itself. We work primarily with internal Fox groups but also from time to time with outside organizations such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry.
