The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture (NMAAHC) celebrates its grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 24, in Washington, D.C., and 21st Century Fox is proud to be a Keystone Donor and participant during the weekend event.
Established by Act of Congress in 2003, the NMAAHC will be the first national museum devoted to the documentation of African American life, history and culture. It has already collected more than 36,000 artifacts and will be the 19th and newest museum of the Smithsonian Institution.

Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe, stars of “Hidden Figures” (produced by Fox 2000 Pictures and distributed by 20th Century Fox Film) will join President Barack Obama and other distinguished guests at the dedication ceremony the morning of Saturday, Sept. 24. “Hidden Figures” tells the true story of the brilliant African American women who crossed gender and race lines to help NASA launch astronaut John Glenn into outer space.
One of the objects housed in the NMAAHC is the Bible that belonged to Nat Turner, the main character of the film “The Birth of a Nation” (distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures), which is based on a true story.
21CF is one of the museum’s key donors.
The NMAAHC, like all Smithsonian museums, will be open to the public for free.
