When all was said and done, 21st Century Fox walked away from the 68th Emmy Awards with 27 awards across its businesses. FX Networks took home 18 Emmys on its own, setting a new record for basic cable, thanks in large part to “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.”
Led by “Grease: Live” and its five Emmys, FOX Broadcasting took home a total of seven awards, more than any other broadcast network. National Geographic Channel also won two awards.
“This is a business of ideas – and last night was fundamentally a celebration of powerful ideas and the unique ability of our people, and our creative partners, to dream them up and bring them to life,” said Executive Chairman Lachlan Murdoch and CEO James Murdoch in an internal memo. “We are inspired by what you continue to accomplish.”
The 27 Creative Arts Emmys and Primetime Emmys add to 21CF’s industry-leading 10 Sports Emmy Awards won earlier this year.
“Enormous credit must also go to our production studios – Twentieth Century Fox Television, Fox21 and FX Productions. Last night’s recognition underscores their impressive creative prowess,” Lachlan and James added.

- Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie: Courtney B. Vance, “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” (FX Networks, FX Productions and Fox21)
- Outstanding Limited Series: “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” (FX Networks, FX Productions and Fox21)
- Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special: Thomas Kail and Alex Rudzinski, “Grease: Live” (FOX)
